The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national-level entrance examination for admission to management programmes. NTA says the CMAT score is used by AICTE-approved institutions, university departments, constituent colleges and affiliated colleges for management admissions.
Why CMAT matters — CMAT gives students access to a broad pool of management institutes. Its five-section structure also creates a useful alternative for candidates who are comfortable with aptitude but do not want an exam with the same structure as CAT.
Eligibility for CMAT 2027
The latest available CMAT rules allow candidates with a recognised bachelor's degree of at least three years' duration in any discipline to apply. Final-year graduation students can also apply, subject to the prescribed completion conditions. CMAT itself does not impose an upper age limit.

How to Prepare for CMAT 2027
1. Take a diagnostic test
Start with one CMAT-style mock or sectional test. Record accuracy, time spent, guesses and the topics where you repeatedly lose marks.
2. Strengthen the core aptitude areas
Build arithmetic, algebra, numbers, DI, reasoning patterns, grammar and reading comprehension before chasing large numbers of mocks.
3. Build GA and I&E gradually
Do not postpone these sections until the final week. Read short current-affairs and business updates regularly, then revise them through weekly notes.
4. Introduce timed practice
Once your concepts are stable, practise mixed sets under time pressure. Because there is no sectional clock, experiment with different section orders and time splits.
5. Analyse every mock
Use four buckets: concept gap → accuracy/calculation error → time-management problem → poor question selection. The goal is to reduce repeated mistakes, not simply increase the number of mocks taken.
