SSC CGL Syllabus 2025: Complete Tier 1 & Tier 2 Topic List

The SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit graduates into Group B and Group C posts across government departments. Knowing the SSC CGL syllabus in full is the first step to a smart preparation plan.

SSC CGL Exam Stages

1. Tier 1 — objective, online (computer-based).

SSC CGL Tier 1 Syllabus (Section-wise)

Tier 1 has four sections of 25 questions each (100 questions, 200 marks, 60 minutes).

General Intelligence & Reasoning

Analogy, classification, series (number & alphabet), coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, syllogism, Venn diagrams, non-verbal reasoning (mirror images, paper folding, embedded figures), ranking, and mathematical operations. Practise these on the SSC Reasoning question bank.

General Awareness

History, geography, polity, economics, general science (physics, chemistry, biology), static GK, and current affairs. Build this with the SSC General Awareness section and daily current affairs.

Quantitative Aptitude

Number system, percentage, ratio & proportion, average, profit & loss, simple & compound interest, time-speed-distance, time & work, mensuration, geometry, trigonometry, algebra and data interpretation. Solve chapter by chapter on SSC Quant.

English Comprehension

Reading comprehension, cloze test, spotting errors, sentence improvement, fill in the blanks, synonyms & antonyms, one-word substitution, idioms & phrases, spelling and para-jumbles. Sharpen it on SSC English.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Syllabus

Tier 2 (Paper 1) tests the same four subjects at a higher level, plus a Computer Knowledge module and a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST). Papers 2 and 3 apply only to specific posts (Junior Statistical Officer and Assistant Audit/Accounts Officer).
