SSC CGL Eligibility 2025: Age Limit, Qualification & Nationality
Before you apply, make sure you meet the SSC CGL eligibility criteria. There are three parts: nationality, education and age.
Nationality
A candidate must be a citizen of India (or fall under the other categories specified by SSC, such as a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, per the official notification).
Educational Qualification
A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university is the minimum requirement. Some posts have specific needs:
- Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): degree with Mathematics (or Statistics as a subject), as specified.
- Assistant Audit/Accounts Officer: degree; a CA/CS/MBA/M.Com is desirable for some streams.
Final-year students can often apply provisionally — check the notification.
Age Limit (Post-wise)
The age limit varies by post, generally between 18 and 32 years. Common bands:
| Age band | Typical posts |
|---|---|
| 18–27 years | Tax Assistant, some Group C posts |
| 20–30 years | Assistant Section Officer, Inspector, etc. |
| 18–30 / up to 32 | Assistant Audit/Accounts Officer, JSO (post-wise) |

- PwD: +10 years (with category combinations as per rules)
- Ex-servicemen and other categories as specified.
Number of Attempts
There is no fixed limit on attempts — you can appear as long as you meet the age criteria.
Once you confirm eligibility, the next step is preparation. Map the SSC CGL syllabus into a schedule with the Study Planner and start practising on the SSC dashboard. Always verify the exact criteria in the official SSC notification.
